We are called by Jesus to practice "Hospitality at Heart." Given what is happening in our economy, how it has affected the communities here and elsewhere, how do you think God is calling us to respond? What ministries do you feel most devoted to?

"You will be pleased with me today, mother," said Dick to his mother, coming home from school. "I saved on fares. I didn't go to school by bus, I ran all the way after it." "Well," said his mother laughing, cheap northface jackets "Next time you should run after a taxi, you will save much more."

Those who slip through the cracks of The System

I am most distressed by seeing the most vulnerable of our society fall through the cracks whenever budget time (i.e., tightening our belts time) comes every year across the States. The ones I see as most vulnerable are children of poor parents and then people with severe mental illness. They get lost in the shuffle through no fault of their own. They get the worst healthcare, and they are at huge risk for homelessness. The system is broken. I'm not sure what we could do as a church here in the Fox Cities.

Focus on our neighborhood?

Are there ways we could be helpful to folks living in our own (church) neighborhood and hit by hard times. Could we offer free movies on Saturday afternoons for kids? Could we make pots of chili and serve it one night a week until spring comes?
